New rating curve for the Isère River at Grenoble-Campus: using in-situ measurements in a Bayesian approach
vendredi 6 décembre 2024 - 13h30
Alexandre Hauet et Christophe Rousseau - IGE---
In the three months between November 2023 and January 2024, the Isère experienced four consecutive major floods. During this event, IGE and ENSE3 were able to measure high flows using historical gaugings. These gaugings, combined with continuous measurements (water level, hydraulic gradient) at the hydrometric station and a hydraulic analysis of flows for the different flow ranges, enabled us to trace the rating curve (stage-discharge relationship) of the Grenoble-Campus station. After a reminder of the importance of river flow measurement and a presentation of the Grenoble-Campus station, we will discuss the Bayesian BaRatin method we used for this work, emphasizing the fundamental nature of hydrometric measurements. The hydraulic behavior of the Isère has turned out to be more complex than we had previously thought! Applied here to the Isère at Grenoble, this method may be of interest to anyone wishing to construct a rating curve for a river.
