Organization charts
IGE is organised into 11 research teams, three support services, and three platforms. The National Observation Services and International Mixed Research Units accredited by our supervisory institutions also contribute to the organisation of our scientific activities. Multi-year and cross-disciplinary initiatives contribute to ongoing discussions about how our organisation and the science we will conduct in the future should evolve.
To ensure effective management, the management team relies on two bodies : the Scientific Steering Advisory Council (CaPS) and the Laboratory Council. The management team is also supported by a team of Prevention Assistants, a mediation and communications manager, and a webmaster. Finally, IGE works with specialised working groups focusing on the development of our carbon trajectory (TIGE), training and teaching (GARE), disability, and equal opportunities.

The CaPS, which is made up of the heads of the research teams and services, meets weekly. It advises the management team on various external scientific requests, coordinates the scientific ambitions of the teams, and develops IGE’s short- and medium-term scientific strategy.
Laboratory Council
The Laboratory Council brings together the management team, as well as elected and appointed representatives from the various categories of staff. It meets at least six times a year to address issues relating to the organisation and operation of the unit, including budget, human resources, training, working-life issues, environmental policy, and related matters.
