The 6th IPCC Synthesis Report: Some remarks on its content and genesis

After 3 special reports and the reports of the 3 working groups, the synthesis report published in March 2023 closes the 6th IPCC assessment cycle. I had the honor and sometimes the pleasure to coordinate the "Long Term" part (one of the three sections) of this report. We were a relatively small team of authors, working over a longer period than originally planned. In this seminar, I will review the purpose of the synthesis report, the process of writing it up to its official approval, and some particular aspects of its content.
