Glacier monitoring in Nepal (conducted in collaboration with local partners)

Less than one percent of the glaciers are surveyed in the field at global scale. In particular in Asia few glacier mass balance records extend further than ten years back in the past. In this seminar, we will provide a brief overview of the glaciers monitored in Asia, and we will focus on the monitoring of Mera Glacier (Nepal) that started in 2007. On top of beautiful pictures, we will discuss the challenges and needs to conduct such types of observation.
