Physically detailed models for mountain glaciers: process studies and applied glaciology

vendredi 21 avril 2023 - 13h30

---
I will illustrate with some examples why physically detailed models, including thermo-hydro-mecanical interactions of the glacier system, are important and present future perspectives on the use and development of such models. I will discuss how they can be combined with observations to identify and implement the relevant physics in (larger scale) glacier and ice sheet models, and why they are needed in applied glaciology for glacier hazard prediction and climate-glacier sensitivity studies.
