Simulating flow and sediment transport in the Lower Mekong River

The Mekong is one of the most important river in the world (Geoff Kite, 2001). It provides livelihood for approximately 70 million people, and plays an important role in socio-economic development of Southeast Asian (SEA) countries. The purpose of this research is to understand the hydrological process of the Mekong river and its tributaries, through the numerical modelling of water and sediment discharge.
