Concordia station

Three samples were collected at the French-Italian station Concordia (75◦06 S, 123◦20 E, 3220m above sea level) during the summer (December-January). The station is located on the Antarctic plateau, 1100km away from the nearest coast of East Antarctica.
The air temperature ranges between −20 ◦C in summer and−70 ◦C in winter, with an annual mean value of −45 ◦C. There is permanent daylight in summer and permanent darkness in winter. Snow accumulation is ∼10cm/ yr
